A monolith in simple, oiled walnut dressed in not-so-simple custom book-matched veneer, this storage unit fills the space with a welcoming vibe and an artful attention to detail. Simple black steel edge pulls slice through the rich, dark tones of the wood just prominently enough to telegraph their function. Casework spans over an open doorway, creating a seamless form edge-to-edge. And the whole thing “floats”, anchored a few inches above a recessed toe kick. Add the ten-foot-wide stone fireplace and the vision is complete – a glowing introduction to extraordinary but livable modern design.
